Chicken prices rise again in Lahore, parts of Punjab: Check latest rates here

Prices of boiler meat increase once again

LAHORE: Poultry prices in Lahore and other cities across Punjab witnessed a sharp rise, with rates crossing Rs 650 per kg in the provincial capital, here on Thursday.

According to the official rate list, the price of chicken meat is around Rs 594 per kg, but these rates fixed by the district government are not being followed.

The situation is dire in Lahore and other cities of Punjab, but the situation is even worse in Peshawar and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

This rise in prices is due to increased demand and higher consumption of other meats. Local traders say that the price of live chicken meat has now reached Rs 490 per kg, recently the price of broiler chicken meat has increased by Rs 100 per kg.

The significant increase in meat prices is also due to higher costs of feed, chicks and electricity, which has significantly affected the overall cost of poultry farming. Due to rising inflation, the prices of mutton and beef have already become unaffordable for salaried people.
