Public forced to buy chicken on high prices despite govt's set rates

LAHORE: Like other parts of the country, the impact of high taxes imposed after the approval of the budget is also being felt strongly in the capital of Punjab, Lahore.

The rising prices of essential commodities, especially chicken, have left the public in a state of panic. Poultry traders and dealers are predicting a further rise in prices in the coming days, due to the new taxes introduced by the government in the latest budget.

As per the reports, there has been a surprising increase in the prices of packed milk, after which the prices of chicken have also increased.

According to the poultry market rates, the price of chicken has increased by Rs 37 per kg in a single day, bringing the new price to Rs 421 per kg.

The traders’ association has expressed its concerns that chicken, like beef and mutton, is becoming unaffordable for the common man. They criticized the budget for unfair taxation and total disregard of his recommendations.

This situation indicates the increasing financial burden on the citizens as the cost of living continues to increase rapidly in the wake of the new budget.
