QUETTA: The Balochistan government has sanctioned salary allowance to government staff. According to a notification from the Treasury Department, a 10% Ad Hoc Relief allowance shall apply to the staff in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 to 22, as 10% of their basic pay, and shall be implemented from July 1, 2025.
Additionally, the deputation allowance will not be granted to workers posted abroad or on deputation, as indicated in the formal announcement.
The expense of this relief allowance will be fitted into the revised budget estimates for the financial year, such that no extra budgetary provision will be needed.
Previously, the government announced the income tax slabs for the salaried class, as people having income up to Rs600,000 per year will be exempted from income tax altogether in the budget 2025-26.
In the second slab, individuals having income between Rs600,001 and Rs1.2 million per annum will pay 1% income tax on the amount above Rs600,000.
In the third slab, people earning between Rs1.2 million and Rs2.2 million will have to pay a flat tax of Rs6,000 plus an 11% tax on the amount over Rs12 million.
For the fourth slab (Rs2.2 million to Rs3.2 million), a flat tax of Rs116,000 will be charged along with 23% tax on the amount over Rs2.2 million.
In the fifth slab for income of Rs3.2 million to Rs4.1 million per annum, the proposed tax has a fixed component of Rs346,000 and a 30% tax on the amount over Rs3.2 million.
The sixth slab pertains to those earning more than Rs4.1 million per annum, who will have to pay a fixed tax of Rs616,000 along with 35% income tax on the amount over Rs4.1 million.
