PESHAWAR: In a positive move towards development and employment opportunities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is set to launch ‘Chief Minister’s Youth Empowerment‘ programme.
Zahid Chanzeb, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, and Museums, announced the scheme.
This program aims at providing loans to youth living around key tourist destinations to enable them to build additional rooms in their homes for tourists so that they can have better living.
However, the he key aim of this programme is to empowering the tourist trade with more accommodations, and loans may go up to Rs 3 million. Through this scheme, women will also be empowered to start their own enterprises.
Earlier in December of 2024, the KP government launched the ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme’, which provides interest-free loans up to Rs 1.5 million for housing assistance to low-income families.
The scheme is to be carried out through an MOU between the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber. The aim is to give financial support for new construction or renovations with an easy repayment period of up to seven years, with a maximum of Rs 18,000 a month as the installment.
The land must be owned by the applicant, and the scheme would operate on a revolving fund system for the next seven years.
