Lemon prices soar to Rs800 per kg amid scorching heat in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Lemon prices were observed on Wednesday with an enormous spike during hot weather in Multan. According to details, the residents primarily utilize lemon for their lemonade, Limca, and various drinks.

However, the unexpected and unofficial rise put residents in utter disbelief. One of the residents commented: “I came here to buy lemons, but when I heard the price, Rs800 per kilo, I was in complete shock.

My kids are asking me to get lemons for this hot weather drink, shikanjabeen, but at this rate, I can’t even afford to do anything with them.”

Exactly one week ago, lemons were being sold for 500 Rupees. Now, shops are up to 800 rupees per kilo, and some shopkeepers are blatantly disregarding the price list from the administration. Meanwhile, one of the shopkeepers said, “The wholesale rate in the market is 800 rupees.

What are we selling? How could we lower our prices here? The administration posts the price on their list is 535 rupees, which doesnt even make sense; we are not buying lemons at that price anymore.” Citizens have demanded that the local administration get involved and control the rising lemon prices.
