Motorcycle sales surge 18 per cent in Pakistan

Sindh extends bike fuel subsidy, cuts tax for riders

KARACHI: In August 2024, Pakistan witnessed a significant increase in motorcycle and three-wheeler sales, with a total of 104,234 units sold, marking an 18.02% rise compared to the same month last year.

This growth trend continues from July 2024, with a 22.64% increase from the previous month.

According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), the first two months of the fiscal year 2025 saw sales of 189,227 units, a 16.87% increase from the same period last year.

Production also saw a notable increase, with 107,154 units manufactured in August 2024, a 29.69% rise from the same month last year.

However, Honda maintains its market dominance, selling 90,483 bikes in August, capturing an 86.81% market share. Its sales grew by 28.79% compared to July and 20.53% higher than August 2023.

Other notable performers include United Auto Motorcycle, Suzuki, and Sazgar Three Wheeler, with sales of 7,447, 1,906, and 1,643 units, respectively, in August 2024.

The first two months of fiscal year 2025 saw Honda sell 160,738 units, a significant increase from the same period last year.
