NAB freezes Bahria Town’s over 10,000 commercial plots

NAB assures safety of Bahria Town residents’ properties & investments

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued an order to freeze more than 10,ooo commercial plots owned by Bahria Town Karachi.

Director-General (DG) NAB Karachi, Javed Akbar Riaz, has issued a letter, ordering the immediate freezing of the commercial plots.

The decision was taken after an investigation uncovered significant evidence of encroachment on more land besides the land allotted to Bahria Town.

The investigation revealed that Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz, and his associates, including Ahmad Ali Riaz, Zain Malik, Shahid Qureshi, Faisal Qureshi, Mohammad Awais, Wasim Rifat, and Waqas Rifat were involved in widespread corrupt practices.

The top accountability watchdog inquiry disclosed that Bahria Town illegally acquired over 16,000 acres of land unlawfully in Malir from the Malir Development Authority (MDA).

NAB’s latest actions came after the bureau collected further evidence, supporting claims of additional land encroachments by Bahria Town, outside of the initially allocated plots.
