Pakistan generates $116mln by seafood export in four months

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), during the first four months of fiscal year 2024–25, Pakistan exported 54,539 metric tons of fish and fish preparations, generating $116.115 million.

According to PBS data, fish exports during the period under review decreased by 6.33% compared to the $123.965 million in exports during fiscal year 2023–24.

Compared to exports of 54,562 metric tons during the previous fiscal year, the quantity of fish and fish preparations exports fell by 0.04 percent during this time.

In October 2024, seafood exports totaled $46.009 million, a 12.78 percent increase from the $40.797 million exports in the same month the previous year. The shipments increased from 16,724 metric tons in October of last year to 21,395 metric tons in October of 2024, representing a 27.93% increase in quantity.

According to PBS data, seafood exports decreased by 31.45% month over month compared to the $35,000 million in September 2024 shipments.

Compared to the 15,781 metric tons exported in September 2024, fish exports rose by 35.57 percent in October 2024.

It is important to note that, in comparison to the same period last year, Pakistan’s total food exports rose by 21.73 percent in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

According to recent PBS data, food exports from July to October of 2024–2025 totaled $2,365.114 million, compared to $1,942.915 million in July to October of 2023–2024.
