Pakistan plans Russian oil imports amid Strait of Hormuz fears: Envoy

MOSCOW: Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi says that a plan has been made to import Russian oil due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, but the relevant authorities in Pakistan have not confirmed it.

According to the details, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said in an interview with the Russian news agency ‘Atartas’ that in view of the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the situation in the region, Pakistan has made a plan to import oil from Russia, Pakistan will also buy oil from Russia.

Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said that due to disruptions in the global supply chain, Pakistan is focusing on alternative and safe trade routes.

Although the Russian agency has made this big claim regarding the Pakistani ambassador, there has been no immediate formal confirmation or denial of this plan from the relevant authorities in Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy.

According to a report by the Ataturk News Agency, Russia’s oil exports are continuing to increase. During April, Russian oil exports reached $861 million, an increase of 4% compared to the previous month, which is the highest exports in the last two and a half years.
