ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed that uncertainty remains in the regional situation, be fully prepared to deal with every possible challenge, and do not allow shortage of petrol to arise.

He said that the government has provided protection to the common man, motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers and transporters. The effects of the increase in fuel prices as a result of the subsidy given by the government have been effectively controlled, and strict action should be taken against those who create artificial shortages of petroleum products in collaboration with the successive governments.
The Prime Minister said that the negative effects of increasing tensions in the region are likely to affect the country’s economy in the future. Just as the people fully supported the previous austerity campaign, austerity should be adopted at the national level in this manner.
It was informed in the briefing at the meeting that there are ample reserves of petroleum products as per the country’s needs and its supply has been ensured for the future.
Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Owais Khan Leghari, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa, Governor State Bank Jamil Ahmed and senior government officials attended the meeting.
