Power sector’s circular debt exceeds Rs 3,000 billion

Pakistan recovers over Rs133 bln from defaulters in power theft

ISLAMABAD: The circular debt of the power sector started increasing instead of decreasing and now it has increased to more than 3,000 billion.

According to details, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Energy Minister Owais Leghari regarding the challenges of the power sector, in which the challenges faced by the energy sector were discussed. The Energy Minister directed to take steps to check the increase in circular debt of the power sector.

In the briefing, the Energy Minister was told that the circular debt of the power sector is the main reason for the challenges faced by the country’s economy, which has exceeded Rs 3,000 billion.
