Salary of govt employees likely to increase in upcoming budget 2025-26

Govt proposes 10–15% salary increase in budget 2026-27

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to raise the salaries of government employees by 10 percent in the upcoming budget 2025-2026.

Officials were said to be negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help the salaried class. On June 10, the federal government will probably unveil the budget for the following fiscal year 2025-26, together with the officially proposed rise in employee salaries.

A day earlier, the federal government’s special committee guaranteed that workers’ pension changes and salary boosts will be carried out in the next budget for fiscal year 2025-26.

Additionally, Rana Sanaullah will lead a meeting next week to make a ruling on leave encashment, it said further. According to reports, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was detained one day earlier in Islamabad.

Along with Rahman Bajwa, Chief Coordinator of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA), and other alliance officials, officials from the Ministry of Finance, Law and Justice, and the Establishment Division participated.

The meeting examined how the guarantees between the government and its workers regarding their demands were being carried out.

Rahman Bajwa informed the media that following the meeting, Dr. Tariq Fazal guaranteed that the government would fulfill its commitments to the employees. All legitimate traders’ demands—leave encashment, the Prime Minister’s relief package—will be met.

Bajwa said further that government officials from the Ministry of Finance guaranteed the government would live up to the written commitment given to employees.

On budget day, he stated, millions of workers from throughout the nation will descend on Islamabad to keep an eye on the agreement’s execution. Should the agreement hold Dr. At the gathering, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Rana Sanaullah will be celebrated; their names will be inscribed in golden letters. Still, if it is not put into action, these folks will also join the sit-in alongside the employees.

Answering a different question, he said the meeting decided that both the government and employee union representatives would prepare their working papers for presentation in the following committee meeting.
