ISLAMABAD: The UAE has launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Fellowships, a flagship programme for developing a future generation of government leaders in partnership with some of the globe’s top academic institutions.
Presented as strategic human-capital investments, the fellowships are more than education as they will endow participants with skills needed to define the country’s long-term prosperity.
This is the way to the future we want, one that ensures sustainable growth for our nation and our people,” stated Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Cabinet Affairs Minister.
The programme begins with two specialized master’s tracks:
- Economic Strategies and International Policy
- Artificial Intelligence for the Public Sector
- The courses will be taught in collaboration with leading global universities with high ranking in public sector innovation and executive education based on the 2026 global university rankings.
Exceptional Emirati professionals working in government institutions will be nominated during the first phase to participate in the fellowship. The participants will be divided evenly between the two subject areas.
Partner institutions are:
- Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (50 fellows)
- University of Oxford (25 fellows)
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (25 fellows)
- New York University (40 fellows)
- Georgetown University (60 fellows)
- In all, 200 fellows will be chosen: 100 for economic strategy and international policy, and 100 for artificial intelligence in government.
Graduates will be equipped with advanced knowledge in policy design, international strategy, and applied AI — enabling them to lead digital transformation, develop visionary policies, and propel the UAE’s global competitiveness.
Al Gergawi highlighted that ongoing investment in human capital is central to sustaining the UAE’s leadership in government modernization and sustainable development, with economic policy, AI, and global policy being the pillars of national advancement.
