LAHORE: The Punjab government, under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has initiated the registration process for the “Punjab Honahar Scholarship Program”.
The initiative aimed to provide scholarships to 30,000 students annually, promoting higher education by removing financial barriers for deserving students.
The program will benefit students from 50 public sector universities, 16 medical colleges, 131 graduate colleges, and top private institutions such as LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, NUST, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, and seven other leading private universities.
Over the next eight years, the Punjab will disburse a total of PKR 130 for the Honahar scholarship program, while PKR 7 billion for the first year benefiting 120,000 students in the next four years.
Taking on X, Chief Minister Maryam wrote, “I am thrilled and excited to announce the Honahar Scholarship Program, an initiative that enables our youth access to quality education for deserving and meritorious students, empowering them to realize their higher education dreams breaking all financial barriers.”
Registration process for Honahar Scholarship Program
To apply for the Honahar Merit Scholarship, eligible candidates can visit the registration portal on the High Education Commission (HEC) official website. https://honhaarscholarship.punjabhec.gov.pk
The eligibility for the scholarship includes the student must have a domicile from any district of the Punjab.
Moreover, the candidate should not the older than 22 years of age on the closing date of the scholarship’s registration process.
The family monthly income of the applicant should be less than Rs 300,000 and for that Affidavit will be required. The applicant must be enrolled in selected disciplines in the selected universities/colleges to avail of the scholarship.
