KARACHI: Sindh authorities have announced a holiday in all government and private schools in Karachi on August 20 Wednesday as the city has been paralyzed by heavy monsoon rains.
This was announced by Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon, citing public safety as the city faces continuous urban flooding. The city has multiple areas submerged in water, with some places recording up to three feet of water.
Traffic in Karachi has been greatly impacted, with cars stuck in traffic and serpentine queues on key roads. Most students from colleges and schools are still stuck in traffic, trying to reach home safely.
The city is still reeling from the effects of urban flooding, and the authorities have advised people to take care. Further rains are predicted in Karachi and some areas of Sindh in the next few days.
