LAHORE: Mixed signals were sent to the parents of the Punjab capital there when schools are closed on December 16 without warning. Earlier, the official winter vacation schedule released by the provincial government said that winter vacations were to be from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025.
However, the most recent directive for a holiday on December 16 has raised among parents the speculation that winter holidays may start earlier than previously expected.
The deputy commissioners of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore had issued notifications a day before that all schools and colleges both in the public and private sectors would be shut on December 16, 2004.
Interestingly enough, the notifications did not specify any particular reason why the holiday was declared suddenly. This vagueness has caused confusion in the minds of the parents who are questioning whether winter vacations are beginning a bit too early.
With the uncertainty closing in on celebrations, parents have attempted to contact the school management seeking confirmation on possible changes in the winter holiday timetable.
So far, the school administration has put the parents to rest that nothing could change that schedule. Nevertheless, they will let the parents know and inform them continuously in case any such notice is given by the Government at a later date.
