LAHORE: Punjab University has declared that all examinations scheduled for December 16 would be postponed until December 18 without assigning any reasons against this decision.
According to students, this creates various problems for them in dealing with their other academic commitments. Earlier, the university postponed its exams set for November 25 for one week in view of the smog situation.
The postponement of examinations has become a common practice, raising anxiety among students regarding their academic careers.
Meanwhile, an Islamabad report on Monday had suggested the closure of public and private schools and colleges in Islamabad and Punjab as a result of security concerns; they had instituted the closure notification from the District Administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as the School Education Department of the Punjab government.
While the dual notification from authorities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi did not mention the reason for this holiday, the Punjab School Education Department described the hotbed of unrest as the rationale for the decision to close educational institutions in the province.
Amanullah Khan, from the District Education Authority Rawalpindi, confirmed that the holiday notification had been issued and circulated to all government and private schools; however, he mentioned that the reason for the holiday was unclear.
