Election Commission of Pakistan firmly denies accusations made by Commissioner Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: Commissioner Rawalpindi’s claims have been categorically refuted by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which asserts that it never gave him instructions to rig elections.

Prior to this, Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali Chatta resigned from his position after confessing to election tampering in the Rawalpindi division.

A representative for the ECP stressed that the commissioner was not given orders from above to rig the results of the election or tamper with the voting process.

Commissioner Rawalpindi’s assertions are further undermined by the spokesperson’s emphasis that divisional commissioners are not appointed as District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs), or Presiding Officers.

To find out the truth and protect the integrity of the election process, the ECP has promised that the issue will be thoroughly investigated.
