Hezbollah confirms chief Hassan Nasrallah killed in Beirut airstrike

Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah killed

BEIRUT: Lebanon’s Hezbollah confirmed on Saturday that its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was killed and vowed to continue the battle against Israel, Reuters reported.

Earlier, the Israeli army officially claimed that the Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli attack on Friday evening.

Israeli forces have killed Lebanon’s Hezbollah chief Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, the army’s Arabic-speaking spokesman Avichay Adraee said on Saturday, a day after an Israeli attack on the southern outskirts of Beirut.

Earlier, Iranian news agency Tasmin News reported that the Israeli operation had failed and both Hassan Nasrallah and the head of the movement’s executive council, Seyed Hashim Safiuddin, were safe after a major airstrike on Friday.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has not yet released a statement on the status of Nasrallah, who led the group for 32 years.

Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee wrote in a statement on X that the Israeli army has killed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

“Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world,” the Israeli military said in a post on X on Saturday.

Israel launched a new wave of air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and other areas of Lebanon on Saturday, a day after a major attack on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahih.

“This new Israeli aggression proves that the Israeli enemy does not care about all international efforts and calls for a ceasefire,” Mikati said in a statement from his media office.

Earlier, the Israeli media claimed the death of Nasrallah’s daughter, Zainab Nasrallah. Zainab is known for her strong advocacy for Hezbollah, citing the death of her brother Hadi Nasrallah, who was killed by Israeli forces in 1997.
