ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has accepted the review petition related to Article 63-A, delivering a summary judgment in the case.
A five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, accepted the review petition, despite being overdue by three days.
The review petition was filed concerning Article 63-A, which deals with the defection of parliamentarians. The court’s decision comes after a prolonged period of three months and 21 days since the initial review.
Earlier, President Arif Alvi filed a presidential reference in the Supreme Court, combining 184 petitions. A five-member bench was constituted for the hearing on March 24. PTI’s Babar Awan filed a constitutional petition through Dr. Babar Awan Bhutto, who was also a lawyer in the reference case.
