LAHORE: In a positive move, the provincial government, under an outsourcing model, has initiated the project of providing MRI services at District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs).
It is expected that the outsourcing service of MRI in designated districts will improve service delivery and timely diagnosis of complicated diseases.
So far, the government has signed MoUs for MRI scanning services for an approximate value of Rs399.2 million in Sheikhupura and Bahawalnagar.
MRI Machine commissioning has been completed at the Sheikhupura District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, while the MRI machine in Bahawalnagar will be installed shortly.
According to CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, the outsourcing model will now ensure that quality MRI services are now available in different areas, ending the long waits and agony that the patients had to endure earlier.
The patients had long waits for an MRI test in the big hospitals of Lahore that were very troublesome and delayed diagnosis. The new project will enable access to MRI services from the doorstep, relieving the burden on major hospitals and reducing the chances of delay in the administration of medical care.
This will be great relief to the people of the province, especially those in far-off areas, who had to cover a great distance for MRI facilities.
