TEHRAN: Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain after US attacks on radar installations, further escalating tensions in the Gulf region.
According to US and Gulf officials, Iran fired seven ballistic missiles, most of which were destroyed by air defense systems.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense claimed that seven ballistic missiles were detected and responded effectively, while according to the Bahraini military, the air defense system destroyed three Iranian missiles and several drones in the air. Bahrain and Kuwait have called the attacks an act of aggression against their sovereignty.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense called the Iranian action an act of open aggression and a violation of international norms, while Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, saying that such actions are harming peace and stability in the region.
On the other hand, the US Central Command has claimed that more than two Iranian attack drones were shot down in the Strait of Hormuz and later targeted Iranian coastal radar installations. According to US officials, these drones were a threat to international maritime traffic.
The US Central Command says that US forces are fully prepared to continue defensive operations against Iranian aggression, while the situation in the region remains tense due to security concerns.
