Peshawar University facing financial crisis

PESHAWAR: The University of Agriculture in Peshawar is experiencing a serious financial burden, which has left its staff members in a precarious situation as they wait to get their February salaries.

University sources claim that an astounding amount of Rs 400 million is desperately needed to pay the unpaid salaries for both the previous and current month.

Dr. Jahan Bakht, vice-chancellor of Peshawar University of Agriculture, discussed the difficulties presented by a smaller budget allotted to universities and clarified how rising costs for pensions and wages are major causes of the university’s financial difficulties.

The institution has requested immediate financial support from the province government to meet its payroll responsibilities.

Dr. Bakht restated the university’s need for urgent funding to reduce financial strain and guarantee that staff members are paid on time so that instruction may continue.
