The newly-elected President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has decided not to take his salary, President House media wing said in a press release on Tuesday.
President Zardari’s decision came in view of the prevailing economic challenges faced by the country.

According to the statement, the purpose of the President’s decision is to encourage prudent financial management in the country. The President considered it essential not to burden the national exchequer and preferred to forgo his salary, it added.

After President Zardari, Mohsin Naqvi foregoes salary
Newly appointed Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi also announced to forego his salary.
After President Asif Ali Zardari decided not to take his salary, federal minister Mohsin Naqvi also decided not to withdraw his salary in these challenging times for the country.
Taking on X, he expressed commitment to support and serve the Pakistani nation in every possible way.
