Actor Rajesh Sharma hospitalized after poisonous insect bite

MUMBAI: A well-known actor of Bollywood and Hindi cinema, Rajesh Sharma, was bitten by a poisonous insect during the shooting of South Indian superstar Prabhas’s upcoming film, after which his condition deteriorated.

According to Indian media reports, the actor is undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria, Kolkata.

Actress Sudipa Chatterjee issued a press note on social media on behalf of Rajesh Sharma’s family, confirming his deteriorating health.

The note stated that the incident took place in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where Prabhas’ film was being shot. After packing up, Rajesh Sharma was talking to the local technical staff near dense bushes when he was bitten by an insect. At that time, he considered it minor and did not seek immediate medical attention.

He said that 6 hours after the incident, the actor started experiencing severe pain in his right leg, and despite his deteriorating condition, he boarded a flight to Kolkata, where he developed a high fever during the journey and his condition worsened further.

According to the hospital doctor, the infection from the poison has spread from Rajesh Sharma’s toes to his knee, and large blisters have formed on his leg. He is also facing severe difficulty in breathing.

Doctors have expressed concern that due to the infection, a blood clot may form in the leg, which could prove fatal if it travels to the lungs. Rajesh Sharma is not out of danger yet.
