Facebook Moves to Reward Original Creators

Facebook moves to reward original creators as the platform increases efforts to limit copied or low-quality content. The new steps aim to support authentic creators and improve the overall experience on the social media platform.

Meta Platforms said it has taken several actions during the past year to make the Facebook Feed and Reels more relevant for users.

Focus on Original Content

According to the company, Facebook moves to reward original creators by prioritizing unique content in both Feed and Reels.

The platform updated its content guidelines to clearly explain what counts as original content. Content filmed or produced directly by a page owner or creator is considered original.

Creators can also use some third-party clips if they add meaningful changes, such as new analysis, useful information, or creative storytelling.

However, simple reactions, stitched clips, or reposted videos without meaningful changes will likely be treated as unoriginal content.

Copycat Accounts Being Removed

As Facebook moves to reward original creators, it is also taking action against impersonation.

The company reported that more than 20 million fake accounts pretending to be popular creators were removed in 2025.

Reports of impersonation targeting large creators also dropped by about 33 percent during the same period.

Better Opportunities for Creators

Facebook moves to reward original creators by expanding distribution for authentic videos.

The company said views and watch time for original Reels almost doubled in the second half of 2025 compared to the same time in 2024.

This increase also created higher earning opportunities for creators producing original videos.

New Tools to Protect Content

Facebook has also introduced new tools to help creators protect their work.

The content protection system automatically detects copied Reels and allows creators to take action. The platform is now testing improvements that can also identify possible impersonation accounts.

These tools will gradually become available to more creators through their professional dashboard.

Meta’s Commitment to Creators

Meta Platforms says these steps are part of a wider effort to ensure that creativity is recognized and rewarded.

With stronger guidelines and improved protection tools, the company aims to give genuine creators more visibility and control over their work.
