Gulf Airspace Closure: UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait Shut Airspace Amid Regional Tensions

Gulf Airspace Closure

Gulf Airspace Closure has been enforced by the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait following a sharp escalation in regional tensions.

On February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States launched coordinated military strikes on targets across Iran, including Tehran and other cities. These strikes were described as a joint operation against perceived threats from Iran.

In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly targeted U.S. military bases in Kuwait, UAE, and Qatar. Iranian authorities called this a “decisive response” to the attacks.

The Gulf states’ closure of airspace is a precautionary measure due to the risk of missile or drone incidents. Airlines have been forced to review flight routes, and travelers are advised to check with carriers for updates.

Governments in the region continue to monitor the situation closely. Further announcements regarding airspace restrictions and travel advisories are expected as the situation develops.
