27th Constitutional Amendment challenged in Supreme Court

Supreme Court issues key order in refugee seats reference

ISLAMABAD: The 27th Constitutional Amendment was challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The petition against the 27th Amendment was filed by Asad Rahim Khan Advocate, requesting that the 27th Constitutional Amendment be declared null and void.

While requesting in the petition, it was said that an order should be issued to ensure the independence of the judiciary, the powers of the Supreme Court cannot be reduced or abolished in any way.

The petition took the position that the Supreme Court has also ordered the implementation of the law in the past before the presidential ratification of the law.

It should be remembered that the 27th Constitutional Amendment was passed in the National Assembly yesterday with a two-thirds majority, on this occasion the opposition tore up copies of the bill and boycotted the proceedings by protesting in front of the Speaker’s chair. 8 new amendments have been added to the 27th Amendment in the National Assembly.
