ISLAMABAD: This week is going to be a happy one for government employees as the possibility of getting four consecutive days of holidays by combining the possible holidays of Muharram ul-Haram and the usual weekly holidays has arisen.
It should be noted that 9th and 10th Muharram ul-Haram, which are celebrated as the Day of Ashura, are expected to be declared public holidays across the country on this occasion. If these holidays are combined with weekly holidays, government employees will be able to get a total of four days of rest and recreation.
Due to the possible holidays, government offices, educational institutions and several semi-government institutions will remain closed, and some public services will also be available on a limited basis. However, staff associated with hospitals, rescue services, law enforcement agencies and other essential services will continue to perform their duties as usual.
This news is being welcomed by government employees and citizens. Many families have started planning for tourism, meetings with relatives and recreational activities during the holidays. Long holidays provide temporary relief to people from daily routines and mental stress.
On the other hand, special security arrangements are being finalized for holding gatherings and processions across the country during Muharram.
Special instructions have been issued to the relevant institutions to maintain law and order, ensure traffic flow and deal with emergencies.
