ISLAMABAD: The British Council has prepared to put an additional burden on the applicants who are planning to go abroad as the Council is set to increase the IELTS fee.

Sources told Daily Ausaf that the British Council without mentioning any reason has prepared a plan to increase the fees for the IELTS from May 1 next month.

Inflation-hit Pakistanis expressed serious concerns about the increase in the IELTS test fee as the British Council without giving any reason announced the fee hike.

According to the sources, the British Council was previously charging Rs 62,600 for IELTS on paper and Rs 55,900 for IELTS tests on computer.

Candidates planning to go abroad are required to take the IELTS test for English proficiency. For applicants who are planning to go to the United Kingdom (UK), there is a specific IELTS test for acquiring UK visas and immigration.
