MUZZAFARABAD: The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) sentenced a session judge to three days of imprisonment for granting bail to an accused in a drug case, according to media reports.

A contempt of court case was heard in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court, where the AJK Apex Court ordered the arrest of Sessions Judge Raja Imtiaz in the courtroom.

Sessions Judge Raja Imtiaz is a former special judge of the Anti-Narcotics Court Haveli, against whom contempt of court proceedings were underway for granting bail to an accused contrary to the orders of the High Court and the Supreme Court.

A full bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, pronounced the contempt of court verdict.

According to the court decision, Judge Raja Imtiaz challenged the authority of the Supreme Court and tarnished the dignity of the court by lying.
