ANF seizes 700kg of Methamphetamine at Karachi port

ANF seizes 700kg of Methamphetamine at Karachi port

KARACHI: In a major blow to trafficking narcotics, the Anti-narcotics Force (ANF) raided the Karachi port and prevented an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of ice into Malaysia.

At the South Asia Pakistan Terminal, about 700 kg of methamphetamine worth millions were seized during the raids. The drugs were smuggled in by adding calcium carbonate, a normal mode of keeping high-value drugs off the radar.

Yet the ANF inquisitive staff searched the container, which was booked by a Karachi company to be shipped to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. During a thorough inspection of 854 bags of calcium carbonate, 28 bags of methamphetamine were discovered.

The suspect is arrested in connection with this drug trafficking, and an investigation is on. It accentuates the never-say-die spirit of the law enforcement agency’s efforts toward drug trafficking and keeping these dangerous drugs out across international borders.
