Application process for CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme: Details inside

100000 homes to get free solar panels under Punjab govt's scheme

LAHORE: In a positive move towards sustainable living, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced ”CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme”, which typically aims at reducing the electricity expenses for households.

Speaking at the formal inauguration on Friday, CM Maryam emphasized that the initiative will provide long-term relief to 100,000 low-consumption electricity users across the province.

Application Process

Starting from today, consumers can apply for the program online at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk or by texting their information to 8800. A computerized ballot technique is used to ensure transparency after the applicant’s electricity bill’s reference and CNIC numbers are verified.

Details of Distribution Plan

Provincial Secretary for Energy briefed the details of the plan to the CM  stating that 52,019 families that consume up to 100 units per month will receive 550-watt solar systems. Those who use up to 200 units each month will be given access to 1,100-watt solar systems.  The full plan will be implemented over the course of a year.

Additionally, The inverters and solar panels will be connected to the customer’s CNIC to deter theft. It is anticipated that installing 100,000 solar systems will lower carbon emissions by 57,000 tons and lessen the federal government’s reliance on subsidies.

Moreover, The Chief Minister emphasized that the solar scheme is an additional step to guarantee that public money are used for the wellbeing of citizens, and that 7.3 million consumers in Punjab had already benefited from a subsidy of Rs. 14 per unit.

Soon, a helpline will be established to help customers use the program.
