ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s flight schedule faced significant disruptions over the weekend, with several flights uncertain today. Despite expectations that flight operations would return to normal after the ceasefire, that has not been fulfilled.
According to aviation sources, at least 150 flights have been cancelled, including 45 from Karachi airport, 38 from Lahore, 40 from Islamabad, 10 from Multan and 11 from Peshawar.
However, the first three flights to Medina are leaving today, carrying over 700 pilgrims.
A private airline flight from Lahore is scheduled to depart for Medina around 2 pm.
PIA flight 7249 will depart at 2:30 pm, while PIA flight 7251 will depart after 4 am.
All three flights will operate from Lahore to Medina throughout the morning, which is a source of hope for pilgrims amid the cancellations.
Earlier, the closure of Pakistan’s airspace, as a result of escalating tensions due to Indian aggression, had forced Gulf airlines to temporarily suspend their flights to the country. Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Saudi Airlines have cancelled all flights to Pakistan, prioritizing the safety of passengers. Passengers on flights connecting to Pakistan are advised to avoid going to airports and contact their booking agents or airline customer service for alternative arrangements.
