LAHORE: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced the sighting of the moon of Muharram 1448 AH in Pakistan.
According to the details, the central meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held at Badshahi Masjid, Lahore, under the chairmanship of Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad to see the moon of Muharram 1448 AH.
Along with the committee members, representatives of the Meteorological Department and Suparco for technical assistance were also present at the meeting. In addition, meetings of zonal committees were held in Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Islamabad, and other cities.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir said that no moon sighting was received from anywhere in the country, after which it was decided unanimously that the first of Muharram 1448 AH will be on Wednesday, June 17, while the day of Ashura will be on Friday, June 26.
