Boxer Amir Khan made honorary Pakistan Army Captain

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army awarded the world-prominent boxer Amir Khan with the honorary rank of captain in recognition of his best achievements in the boxing field here on Saturday.

The army officers pinned the badges of the rank of captain to Amir Khan.

The Pak Army has always encouraged people who excel in every field of life. Keeping this in mind, the world-renowned boxer Amir Khan was given the rank of honorary captain in a prestigious ceremony in recognition of his achievements.

Amir Khan said after being given the rank of honorary captain, “The Pakistan Army has always played an important role in the promotion of sports. I feel proud after receiving this honor today.”

“I feel the same joy wearing the uniform and the ranks as I felt when I became the world champion,” he added.

He said that he had always supported the Pakistan Army because it was our pride. Today, I felt very happy to wear this uniform.

“I will continue to play my role in the promotion of sports in Pakistan; Pakistani youth should participate more in sports,” Amir said.

As per the statement issued, there is immense talent and dedication among the youth regarding sports in Pakistan.

Many young people represented Pakistan at the international level in sports and brought laurels to the country. Amir Khan has achieved numerous achievements in his brilliant career.

A British-Pakistani boxer won a silver medal in the lightweight category at the 2004 Olympics at the age of 17. Aamir also expressed his willingness to open more boxing academies in Pakistan and train young boxers.

He hoped that one day we would win medals in the Commonwealth and Olympics, God willing. “I also met Army Chief General Syed Asim Muni and am grateful to Pakistan,” he concluded.
