COAS Gen Asim Munir stresses readiness against conventional & hybrid threats

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated that the armed forces are fully prepared to deal with any threat and will never compromise on the country’s sovereignty.

In his Independence Day message shared by the ISPR, the top general congratulated the nation and expressed full confidence in the professionalism and war preparedness of the army.

Paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s forefathers and the Muslims of the subcontinent, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the important role of religious minorities in the country’s development. He also noted that Pakistan has suffered significant losses in both lives and resources in the war against terrorism.

He paid tribute to the martyrs of other wars for freedom and justice, praising their courage, determination and faith. Reiterating Pakistan’s support for the people of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India, he stressed that granting the Kashmiris their right to self-determination is the only just and sustainable solution. He also called on the international community to take immediate steps to protect the rights of Palestinians.

Amid the recent hostilities, the COAS expressed regret over India’s targeting of Pakistan’s civilian population, and said that the armed forces, with the support of the nation, responded with “Operation Banyan Marsoos”, describing it as a historic symbol of the bravery and resolve of the Pakistani army.

He stressed that the Pakistan Army is fully prepared to counter conventional, unconventional and hybrid threats, while reiterating the country’s aspiration for regional peace, development and prosperity. He further condemned the Pahalgam incident and called for a transparent international investigation.
