ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): Islamabad termed the terrorist attack on Jaffar Express as a conspiracy of elements hostile to Pakistan and India was behind the plan orchestrated by the terrorist organisation’s leadership based abroad.
The statement came after security forces rescued all hostages from Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists after they ambushed a Jaffar Express train on Tuesday in Balochistan’s Bolan district. The terrorists opened fire on the train and held the passengers hostage, prompting the security forces to initiate an operation that lasted two days.
On Wednesday evening, ISPR Director General confirmed that the operation had been concluded, with 33 terrorists present at the site of the attack neutralised.
While addressing his weekly briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that the rescue operation for the Jaffar Express attack has been completed, and intelligence suggests that the terrorists were in contact with their associates in Afghanistan.
Khan urged the Afghan government to take immediate action against the elements responsible for this attack and fully cooperate with Pakistan.
The spokesperson clarified that the forces involved in terrorism in Pakistan want to destroy the peace of the country, but Pakistan is determined to thwart these nefarious intentions.
He said that the international community, including China, has strongly condemned the attack on Jaffar Express, which is proof that the world supports Pakistan’s stance against terrorists.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office strongly criticized the controversial statements of the Indian leadership regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and described them as a reflection of India’s expansionist ambitions.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan is capable of giving a befitting reply to any aggression and will continue to insist on resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
