KARACHI: Anmol alias Pinky, arrested in a drug trafficking case, was produced before a Judicial Magistrate at the City Court Karachi under tight security.
The accused was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate South with her face covered.
During the hearing, the accused created a commotion in the courtroom and alleged that she had been detained for 22 days.
She claimed she was arrested in Lahore and shifted in a police van, adding that false cases had been registered against her and that she had been subjected to torture.
The court assured the accused that she would not face any harassment and that both her and her lawyer’s stance would be fully heard.
The accused further alleged in court that multiple cases were being prepared against her and that she was being pressured to confess, otherwise her family would be targeted.
The investigating officer informed the court that seven individuals had been arrested in connection with the case, and recoveries were being made on their identification. He further stated that the accused was not cooperating with the investigation.
When the court inquired about the initial record related to the accused, the investigating officer responded that it was available in a police mobile. The court expressed displeasure over the investigation process.
The officer also stated that there were multiple cases linked to the accused and that she had been involved in the network for a long time, claiming that a large number of individuals had been supplied with drugs and that foreign nationals were also allegedly connected to the network.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its decision on the police request for physical remand of the accused.
