Dense fog forces closure of major motorways

Motorway police closes sections of M1 and M2 ahead PTI Lahore jalsa

LAHORE: Dense fog enveloped plain areas of Punjab and Sindh on the night between Sunday and Monday, disrupting routine life and severely affecting road traffic due to poor visibility.

As per details, the thick fog led to the closure of several sections of the motorway network. According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, traffic was suspended on the M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, the M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, the M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, the M5 from Multan to Rohri, and the M11 from Lahore to Sialkot.

Motorway Police officials advised motorists to use the Grand Trunk (GT) Road as an alternative route and urged drivers to exercise caution by reducing speed and switching on fog lights while travelling.

Additionally, the police also appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors until weather conditions improve. In addition to motorways, traffic on several sections of the National Highway was also disrupted due to extremely low visibility caused by the fog.
