ECP disqualified 11 former MNAs for not submitting tax returns

ECP sets January 15 deadline for assembly members to submit returns

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified several former legislators for not submitting their annual wealth returns, here on Wednesday.

The disqualification notices issued by the ECP included the names of eleven former members of the National Assembly and seven former members of the Sindh Provincial Assembly.

The ECP’s decision was prompted by the failure of these individuals to file their returns for the financial year 2022-23, for which the deadline was September 30. The disqualification will remain in effect until the outstanding returns are filed.

Among those disqualified from the National Assembly are important personalities including Khurram Dastgir, Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Ishaq Khan, Muhammad Ali, Kamaluddin, Ismatullah, Syed Mahmood Shah and Thamina Matlab.

From the Sindh Provincial Assembly, the disqualified members include Mus Naseeba, Shamim Ara Panhwar, Mahmud Shah, Rubina Irfan, Adil Ahmed, Hizbullah Bugio, Arslan Taj, Arif Mustafa, Imran Shah, Ali Ghulam, and Ms. Tahira. Additionally, several former members of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly, including Yar Muhammad Rand, Sikandar Ali, and Mir Hamal, were also disqualified.

ECP has issued an official notification detailing the disqualification. This initiative highlights the ECP’s efforts to enforce transparency and accountability among elected officials
