ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari has said that imported gas has been shut down since April 1, due to which this is a temporary load shedding, I am hopeful that the crisis will be resolved within a few days.
According to a private TV, Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari said while holding a news conference that I want to present the facts regarding load shedding to the public, I apologize for the load shedding during peak hours, we cannot generate electricity from gas during peak hours.
Awais Leghari said that the current situation is being faced due to the situation in the region, Pakistan’s situation is much better than other countries, we have brought Pakistan out of darkness forever.
The Federal Minister for Energy said that due to low water release from dams, the production of hydroelectric power is 1676 MW, there is a shortage of 1530 MW in hydroelectric power, no kind of load shedding is being done during daytime hours.
He said that all the plants are operational, the demand for electricity in the first 15 days of April was 15 to 20 thousand MW, in April this year 1 thousand 671 MW of electricity is being generated from LNG.
Awais Leghari said that the imported gas has been closed since April 1, due to which difficulties are also being faced, 3 thousand MW of electricity was being generated from LNG plants in April last year, load shedding has to be increased as per the need.
The Federal Minister for Energy said that load shedding is also being done in the industrial sector including rural and urban areas, people are propagandizing on social media without research, they cannot put the burden of Rs 100 per unit on the people by running the plant with diesel.
