ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has taken swift action against two high-ranking officials implicated in a scandal involving illicit refunds. Saeeda Islam, a senior officer, has been relieved of her duties and placed on immediate leave, pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, Shiraza Hameed, another key figure, has been suspended for 120 days amid allegations of wrongdoing.
In a bold move, the FBR has cracked down on corruption within its ranks, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The suspensions come after a thorough probe by the Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation, which uncovered evidence of malfeasance.
Moreover, Saeeda Islam, formerly a top official in the Lahore Regional Tax Office, has been reassigned to the Admin Pool in Islamabad, effective immediately.
Shiraza Hameed, previously Deputy Commissioner at the Large Taxpayers Office in Lahore, will face a comprehensive inquiry during her suspension period.
The FBR’s decisive action sends a strong message that misconduct will not be tolerated within the organization and that swift consequences will follow any wrongdoing.
