ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police Department has taken disciplinary action against five officers, including a Station House Officer (SHO), following an inquiry into allegations of misconduct and corruption.
The inquiry, conducted by the SP I-Area Zone, revealed that the officers had engaged in illegal practices, including the theft of recovered valuables and flawed investigations.
As a result, the SHO of Noon police station, a sub-inspector, and three constables were dismissed from service, while a sub-inspector at Tarnol police station was demoted.
In addition, the dismissed officers had been found guilty of gross misconduct, including the release of robbery suspects without legal action and accepting bribes.
The inquiry’s findings were based on a special report from the SHO of Wah Cantt, Rawalpindi, which highlighted the officer’s failure to demonstrate professional conduct.
Despite being allowed to respond to the allegations, the officers’ verbal and written responses were deemed unsatisfactory.
The dismissal orders were issued by Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Raza, under the Punjab Police (E&D) Rules-1975, adopted by the ICT Police.
This decision serves as a reminder of the department’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
