FBR seals two well-known restaurants in Islamabad over fake receipts

Punjab Food Authority seals our food points in Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: In a recent crackdown against illegal activities, the Regional Tax Office (RTO) closed two well-known eateries in the federal capital after the residents complained that the restaurants were producing phony invoices and receipts.

According to a statement from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), this is consistent with the agency’s efforts to include Tier-1 retailers and restaurants in the tax system using POS invoicing.

A team from RTO Islamabad, headed by a Deputy Commissioner, sealed two eateries and their affiliated locations in the city after concluding that the claimed receipts were fake. These establishments were also fined a total of Rs. 1 million.

The statement also stated that FBR is dedicated to preventing the culture of fraudulent invoices and guaranteeing tax compliance by enforcing tax laws effectively.

As of now, the Regional Tax Office closed five well-known eateries in the city back in November due to fake receipts and other fraud cases.
