ISLAMABAD: In a sudden move, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has placed Muhammad Ali, a high-ranking tax official in Quetta, on suspension. The decision, effective immediately, comes after an FBR notification on Thursday invoked disciplinary rules.
As Deputy Commissioner-IR at the Regional Tax Office (RTO) in Quetta, Ali’s responsibilities have been put on hold for the next 120 days or until further notice.
The swift action has raised eyebrows, with many wondering what prompted the FBR to take such drastic measures against one of its own.
Details surrounding the suspension remain scarce, but the FBR’s invocation of the Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules suggests a serious breach of protocol or conduct.
