ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced 25 percent increase in driving license fees, which will affect motorcycle and vehicle owners across the country.
As pert the notification, a 25 % increase in license fees has been identified for both motorcycle and vehicle categories.
Under the new rules, applicants wishing to issue an immediate licence will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 2,000. Apart from this, the mandatory driving test charges have been fixed at Rs 300 for those applying for small vehicle licenses and Rs 500 for those applying for large vehicle licenses.
Moreover, those requiring no-objection certificate (NOC) for grant of licence will now be subject to a fixed fee of Rs 1,000.
Punjab has recently introduced amendments to motor vehicle laws to ease the licensing process and increase accessibility.
The Punjab Traffic Police, in collaboration with the provincial government, reviewed its policy and allowed the candidates who failed the driving test to take the exam again after a short wait of two weeks.

This important decision was taken after detailed deliberations within the Punjab Cabinet, as a result of which amendments were approved in the long-standing Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules 1969.
An official spokesperson stressed that aspiring drivers are given a learning permit for six months, giving ample time to prepare for the driving test. With the recent implementation of the online licensing system, around 360,000 candidates are now eligible to undergo driving evaluation every six months, significantly improving accessibility and operational efficiency.
