RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Asim Munir was given a special Guard of Honour today at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, following his elevation to the highest rank.
According to the ISPR statement, CAOS Asim Munir laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
Addressing this occasion, the Field Marshal dedicated this honour to “the entire nation, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, and in particular, to the martyrs and veterans of both the civil and Armed Forces & Law Enforcement Agencies.”
“This honour is a tribute to the entire Pakistani Nation and the valiant men and women of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, particularly the martyrs who stood like a ‘Wall of Steel’ against Indian unprovoked, cowardly and unlawful aggression against Pakistan,” the Army Chief stated.

The federal government on Tuesday promoted Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal in acknowledgment of his outstanding military leadership during Pakistan’s recent triumph in Maraka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanun-Marsoos.
The federal cabinet noted that Pakistan’s military accomplishment has not only boosted national morale but has also improved the country’s worldwide position and reputation.
“COAS Gen Munir led the Pakistan Army with exemplary courage and determination and coordinated the war strategy and efforts of the armed forces in a comprehensive manner,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.
In a statement after his elevation, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty for receiving the honor.
“I am grateful to the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Cabinet for their trust. This honor is the trust of the nation, for which millions of Asims have sacrificed themselves,” he said.
