LAHORE: A Fly Jinnah aircraft caught fire during landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday, while all passengers were evacuated safely without any injuries.
Flight number 9P846 – en route to the provincial capital from the port – encountered difficulties and fire and smoke were reported in the cargo section of the passenger jet. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, ensuring the rapid evacuation of all passengers and crew members on board.

Airport officials immediately closed the runway to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure the safety of all involved. The passengers also took control of the plane and evacuated.
Fly Jinnah spokesperson has said that Fly Jinnah confirms that flight 9P846 from Karachi to Lahore on September 23, 2024, experienced a smoke alarm indication in the cargo compartment upon landing in Lahore.
In accordance with standard safety protocols, the flight crew followed the standard procedures, notified the airport, and the aircraft with all crew and passengers onboard landed safely in Lahore.
He said that our technical team is currently conducting a thorough inspection to identify the cause of the alarm.
“We regret the inconvenient caused and assure the safety of our passengers and crew remains our main priority”, spokesperson added.
