LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, inaugurated a new program to facilitate safer travel and minimize traffic accidents through setting up the province’s first Heavy Vehicles Driving Training School at Manawan Traffic Police Lines.
Punjab Police Inspector General Usman Anwar inspected the under-construction facility and went through progress in a meeting with the senior officers, including CTO Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed, DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, DIG SPU Ghazi Salahuddin, and Safe Cities CEO SSP Amara Athar.
The institution will impart specialized training for truck, bus, and goods transport drivers with the help of the latest technology and advanced driving simulators.
Officials say certified training schemes will be offered to passenger bus operators, heavy vehicle drivers, and goods carriers with a view to curbing accidents resulting from untrained driving.
Classroom lectures, practical driving lessons, and traffic law orientation programs will be included in the training. Drivers who clear the tests will receive official certificates.
On his visit, IG Usman Anwar also visited the MT Section, Integration Center, and other departments of the Manawan Traffic Lines.
